Baby Blessings and the Long Drive

William is about 5 1/2 months now and is doing great. He smiles and laughs a lot, and usually is only in a bad mood when he's tired. Or at church. He's getting so big that we've already had to transition him to his 6-9 month clothes, but they are a little big on him still.

He loves his doorway jumper and cheers up whenever he's in it.

He is full of silly faces, and makes some pretty funny expressions.

Will is actually starting to like tummy time now, and has realized that it's easier to play with his toys that way.

We started him on solid foods a couple weeks ago, and he is loving it so far.

He always wants to put everything in his mouth, including peoples' faces.

And he tries to drink out of a cup, but it doesn't work very well. He mostly dribbles all down his shirt.

Adam gave William his first tattoo this month; he thought it was pretty manly.

We were able to make it to Ellie's baby blessing before we took off for the summer and enjoyed our little day trip to Cedar City with my family.

Jordyn loves the babies, and kept trying to sneak her face into pictures of them.

Great-grandpa loves the babies too!

But Will was only interested in that dress. Everything goes in the mouth!

Will has recently figured out how to roll back-to-front, which mostly means he is a lot more squirmy. He likes to twist around in his bouncer and try to work his way out of it. Guess it's time to start buckling him in!

He also found his feet! Whenever he finds something big enough, he likes to hold it with his hands and his feet.

Now that he's eating solid foods, he's tried quite a few different things. So far we've done rice cereal, bananas, avocados, mangos, sweet potatoes, apples, and carrots.

Last week we took off to Texas for the summer. We were pretty worried about how Will was going to do on the drive, since he doesn't fall asleep every time we get in the car anymore. He did pretty well though!

I got some baby food in pouches to feed him on the way, and he loved it! Plus it was a lot easier and cleaner than spoon feeding.

He was really happy when we stopped, and met a lot of new friends, like this funny lady in Cortez. We sat at a table next to her when we stopped for lunch, and she just talked our ears off! She had about four teeth and kept talking about her granddaughter being a bazooka, whatever that means. I just had to snap a picture of her while she was distracted with her phone.

When we got back in the car and it started to get later, Will started to get a little cranky so I bribed him with some licorice. Whatever works!

One of our hotels had an indoor pool, and we couldn't wait to take the little man swimming.

Unfortunately, the water was pretty cold so I don't think he liked it very much.

Adam sure had fun though!

My boys also enjoyed a little black licorice in the hotel, yum!

Even though he was pretty good in the car, William always got really happy when we got out for food or gas. He was excited to move around and see what was going on. He loved watching cars drive by at the gas station, and I always felt so bad putting him back in his seat.

We made it to Lake Jackson last Saturday afternoon, and so far we like it. It took Will a little while to adjust, but he seems to be doing well now. Adam was off on Friday so we went so Surfside Beach, which is only a short drive from our apartment. It ended up being really windy when we got there so we didn't stay long, but we'll be back!

It was kind of hard to tell how much Will liked it. It was loud and there was a lot going on, so he just tried to take everything in. He didn't cry though, so he must have liked it, right?

Hopefully it will be a little warmer next time and we can get some smiles out of this cute boy!

Also, I posted some videos on youtube! So if you ever need a little Will go check them out! Here are a couple of my recent favorites:
